St Cecilia Youth Orchestra invites motivated young musicians to come together to share their passion for music, to inspire others, and to excite audiences alike.

SCYO performs some of the greatest orchestral music of all time, from acclaimed masterpieces to innovative contemporary compositions, accepting the challenges on the way as they work intelligently and collectively to deliver energy, excitement, and excellence in musical performance.

Much more than just another orchestra, SCYO provides its members with unrivalled opportunities to advance their musical abilities, to attain new heights, to explore limits, to push boundaries, and to develop not just as musicians but as individuals too.

SCYO actively cultivates a culture of “can-do” positivity at all times, encouraging members to gain the confidence, competence, and proficiency needed to perform extraordinary repertoire to exceptional standards.

Although SCYO performs challenging repertoire, there are no auditions. Ideally, members should be a minimum of Grade5 standard. However, the emphasis is as much on artistry, musicality, and lyricism as much technical ability. Accordingly, capable players of a lower standard or with no formal music educational attainments but a demonstrable desire to succeed are welcome to apply.

The SCYO door is open to all who share a passion for adventure and for discovering new destinations. In turn, SCYO will equip its members with high-quality opportunities to explore new ideas, enjoy new musical experiences...and acquire new friends.
